      I am sure you have understood the concept of  tens and ones.

       Today lets revise the place value of tens and one using abacus.

  What is a place value ?

The place value of a digit is the value of the digit because of its position or place in a number,whether it is in ones or tens place.
When a number is a single digit number, the number is in the ones place

Look at the digits 1 and 4.When we use 1 and 4 to write the number 14, we need two places.We write '4'  in the ones place and '1' in the tens place.

So the place value of 4 is 4 ones or 4
The place value of 1 is 1 ten or 10

So if I expand number 14 it will be-
14= 1 ten + 4 ones or 10 + 4

Now lets try number 16

So the place value of 6 is 6 ones or 6
The place value of 1 is 1 ten or 10

So if I expand number 16 it will be-
16=1 ten +6 ones or 10 + 6

• Take out your Maths Seasons booklet  pg 29 and 30
• Complete the lesson on Numbers from 11 to 20
• Show it to your parents after completing the work.
